About Me
I’ve been in and out of the field of photography for quite some time. From my degree in Journalism from UNC-CH and the year there as a staff writer to working as the Associate Editor for a Business Journal to the past five years I’ve spent as the marketing director, I’ve worked with photography of professionals as well as my own. Additionally, I do portraits and wedding photography on the side of my normal day job. Not so coincidentally, photography has also been a hobby for more than 20 years.
I was drawn to photography and music (a guitar player of 23 years and a drummer for 12) initially because of their ability to express emotion far better than the English language. The ability to tell stories skillfully often transcends the use of English (or any written language). Years of age have taught me life is about stories: some good, some bad, some great and some disheartening. But, a life without stories is a life not lived.
When I’m not behind a lens or at work, I can be found spending time with my son, playing the drums or on the back of my R6 sport bike. My son and I both thoroughly enjoy video games: he is drawn more to the Legos series of games and Halo all on the XBOX 360, while I enjoy FPS and racing titles on the 360 and FPS, RPG and RTS games on the PC. Most of my gaming time now includes various Call of Duty titles (MW3 anyone?), Forza 4, Gears of War 3, Halo Reach and CE:Anniversary, some NFS: The Run and Batman: Arkham City.
I also enjoy reading just about everything I can get my hands on (books, blogs, Web sites, comics, sheet music, etc.) and napping. The napping bit I’ve learned in my tutelage from my tuxedo cat, Alfred (pictured below). If you really want to know more about me and my nonsense, you’re welcome to peruse the personal blog posts on this site.
I’m also in other corners of the web:
