You also bring up a completely valid point: In forcing yourself (i.e. everyone) to look realistically at where you are and where you want to be, you should also be realistic in how far you've come. Celebrating the victories of your journey to do anything is an important step in keeping yourself motivated to continue your path. Sometimes in our focus of simply putting one foot in front of the other (which we need to do in order to progress), we need to look up and see where we're going and where we've been.
