Pricing

Before I discuss pricing with anyone, I always take the time to speak with them about their expectations and what they want in a photo. This process makes sure I’m a good fit for the needs of any prospective client, and ensures they will be happy with the end result. To that end, I come very much from a photojournalism background. Candid shots are where I’m the most comfortable and produce the best results, be it portraits or weddings. For those looking for more formal or posed/controlled pictures, I have several fellow photographer clients to whom I refer those families. Also, I have one extra-ordinary friend that does amazing work for high-end fashion photos, if that is your goal.

I also discuss everything up front: the pricing, what you get, how long it will take, and what rights you (and I) will have for the photos. I quote all prices as a flat rate that is all-inclusive. I don’t hide anything, nor do I charge separately for “session time” and then for photos or discs. Obviously, ordering prints will be more expensive than just a disc of all photos, and a custom-designed and printed book will be more than that. But, I explain all those costs and options when someone contacts me.

For portrait sessions, my package includes a 90-minute shoot with a minimum of 25 photos and a disc. The package also comes with two hours of post processing the images for several different artistic effects and any borders and text you may want. Cost is $180, with additional options for multiple discs ($5/each convenience charge), 4×6 prints, 5×7 prints, 8×10 prints, custom paperback or hardcover printed books and more (computer desktop wallpapers, etc.).

Wedding sessions start at $1200 for a total four-hour coverage of the wedding and reception, minimum of 200 photos, four duplicate copies of discs, 50-page softcover keepsake book measuring 8×10 inches (with custom design), 12 hours of post processing and travel up to 50 miles one way. Additional options are also available for more or larger prints, books of larger size/more pages/hardcover, adding the rehearsal ceremony or engagement shots, and more.

I am also available for graphic design and web design work evenings and weekends, based on my current work load. Rates are typically a flat $70 per hour, though I am happy to price out finite jobs on a per-project basis.
